How much does Microsoft 365 Copilot cost in Switzerland?

For an SME, Microsoft 365 Copilot Business costs CHF 17.00 per user per month on an annual subscription, CHF 20.40 on a monthly subscription, excluding VAT. A discount brings it down to CHF 14.57 for the first year, for an annual subscription taken out by 31 December 2026. It comes on top of a Microsoft 365 Business subscription. Above 300 users, the enterprise version costs CHF 24.30 per month billed annually. Prices as of 8 October 2026.

Do you need a Microsoft 365 licence to use Copilot?

Yes. Microsoft 365 Copilot is an add-on to an eligible subscription: Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Standard or Premium for Copilot Business, up to 300 users; Microsoft 365 E3 or E5, or Office 365 E1 to E5, among others, for the enterprise version. An SME starting from scratch can take the Business Standard and Copilot Business bundle: CHF 19.03 per user per month, billed annually. Copilot Chat, for its part, is included in the subscription.

Does Copilot use company data for training?

No. Microsoft states it in its documentation: your prompts, Copilot's responses and the data it reads in Microsoft 365 do not train its foundation models. This also applies to Copilot Chat used with a work account. Both fall under Microsoft's Data Protection Addendum, with Microsoft acting as processor. Web searches sent to Bing follow other terms, but leave without any user or company identifier, and do not train the models either.

What is Copilot Studio and how much does it cost?

It is Microsoft's tool for building agents: an assistant that answers from your documents, or chains actions together. With a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence, agents internal to Microsoft 365 cost nothing extra. To publish an agent on a website or an app, or open it to people without a licence, you need Copilot Studio: CHF 162.00 per month for a pack of 25,000 credits, or pay-as-you-go, through an Azure subscription. An agent built for your line of work: what an AI agent costs in Switzerland (in French).

Copilot or ChatGPT Business: which should you choose?

Your team lives in Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel: Copilot works there on your emails, meetings and documents, for CHF 17.00 per seat billed annually, on top of Microsoft 365. You want an assistant that does not depend on Microsoft 365: ChatGPT Business costs CHF 15 per seat billed annually, from 2 seats. Neither trains its models on your data. Try the same task on both: Microsoft offers a one-month trial.

How do you train a team on Copilot?

On their own tasks: meeting minutes, a follow-up, an Excel table to analyse. Each person redoes their own with Copilot, then reviews the result. Check sharing permissions first: Copilot shows everyone everything they are allowed to open. Our training “AI, in practice” covers Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot: 4 hours on your premises, from CHF 80 per person, 10 people at most. Other formats on quote. The canton also offers SME managers a free day of training: conditions and dates (in French).

Is Copilot Chat free?

For work accounts, yes: Microsoft includes it at no extra cost in eligible Microsoft 365 subscriptions, from Business Basic at CHF 5.67 per user per month billed annually. It searches the web and reads the files you give it, with enterprise data protection. It does not draw on your emails, your folders or your conversations: that is what the Microsoft 365 Copilot licence adds. Its agents are paid for by usage, through an Azure subscription.

Where does Copilot process a Swiss company's data?

Within the EU Data Boundary, which covers the European Union and EFTA, Switzerland included. A Microsoft 365 subscription whose country of sign-up is Switzerland falls within it, unless it uses the multi-geo option. Microsoft commits to storing and processing Copilot data there, with exceptions it publishes: web searches sent to Bing and, for now, Anthropic's models. We describe public commitments, not legal advice.
